A Girl Named Chloe

I adopted a 20 month-old little girl who I named Chloe from Orphanage Xin Yi in China.
Thanks to A Child Waits Foundation, we were able to use their loan to help pay for our travel, orphanage expenses and some of our fees. Our trip was flawlessly organized and I was amazed at how nice the Chinese people are.

Chloe is in excellent health and although we did not go to the orphanage, the nannies gave us a picture book of it. I was amazed how pretty Chloe was, even prettier than her picture. When I first met her, she was a little dazed, looking around, a little bewildered, but she clung tight to me from the very beginning.

I was with a group of 30 other families adopting children and we all went to the American Consulate together to get the babies visas stamped. A Chinese man (who spoke a little English and obviously had a sense of humor) looked at us said "so many babies- you have demonstration? " I showed him a laminated card that told who we were and why we were there in Chinese. He read it and got so emotional he almost started crying. As we walked off he called out "shiek-shiek" which means "Thank You". The card I showed him said "we believe God called us to bless her with a loving home, we love China and the Chinese people.

Since being home, we've become a family, she and I. Her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents all love her too. This was the most wonderful Christmas we've ever had.
Things couldn't be better; she is the happiest, sweetest child I have ever seen. Everyone loves her and vise versa.
