Our Adoption

Our hearts are full of gratitude to God for providing all of the funding for our adoption, and A Child Waits Foundation for listening to His call with your help just before we left. We started off our journey with a couple thousand in the bank, ending with the full amount paid with no loans and a couple hundred in our pockets. We are of modest income and only your organization and one other offered help with grants, the rest coming from various sources including a better than normal year in my contracting business and very frugal living.

There was a mission team from our church, Valley Brook, in Eau Claire, WI at the orphanages when we picked up our children. Our church started an orphanage in Addis, and Nazaret, that care for around 120 children at this time, and help 200 others with sponsorship. Another family will be leaving for Ethiopia within the next couple of weeks to get two more children, and around eight more will be coming home within the next few months.

I am convinced that these are the exact two children that God intended for us and we love them with our all. Things are quite normal considering the age and emotional condition of our kids. They are healthy and remind us several times a day that they love us. We have had our challenges with the culture differences but are working through them as they occur. It's so funny to hear them argue, as brother and sister always do, in Amharic. We are beginning to understand some of the things they are saying, but not enough to jump in the middle to help. It's awesome.

Thanks again, and I am happy to share more about our church and the Kingdom Vision International orphanages we help to support if you would like.
