Our Story
We adopted Macoy age 7 and Kolbie age 6 from Ethiopia. Kolbie had retinoblastoma which is cancer of the eye and Macoy was premature and had some delays.
The orphanage was very clean and the children were well cared for but the conditions were that of a third world country. I pretty much anticipated what I would endure as I have traveled to various countries.
Macoy ended up being very sick so this changed some of our sight seeing plans. I love these girls and it felt wonderful to finally hold them, but sad in the fact knowing I was taking them from all they knew. Kolbie was very quiet and shy for the first day but that changed on day two.
Both girls have settled in to our family just like a perfect puzzle piece. Kolbie has a new prosthetic eye and so very proud of her eye. Her English is coming along great. Macoy has grown 4 inches in 4 months and gained 8 pounds.
As a family we prayed that if it was meant for us to adopt both girls that God would supply the needed funds. Through the gracious support from A Child Waits Foundation we were able to adopt both girls. They have been such a joy and blessing to our family and we are so thankful for them. Each day brings new learning experiences for our family. Had it not been for A Child Waits this would not have been possible.
Thank you and may God's richest blessings be poured upon you.
