Dear A Child Waits,
Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our
adoption. We are pleased to report that our children are finally home! It has
been an amazing and at times difficult journey, and we could not have done it
without your help.
In December 2006, just as our adoption was about to be finalized in court, the birth family of the siblings that we had originally planned to adopt changed their mind and withdrew the children from the adoption process. We were devastated, but our case manager encouraged us not to despair and told us that she would try to make contact with the birth family when she went to Ethiopia in January. In the meantime, she asked us to consider the possibility of choosing different children, and we began to fast and pray.
About a week before our case manager was to depart for Ethiopia, she called
us and told us that it was very important for us to have a plan B in the event
that the birth family of the first children refused to continue with the adoption
process. She told us of several waiting siblings that were ready to go, and
said that she would email us photos. As soon as we received the photos of the
first set of siblings, Asres and Meheret Garamew, I called her and told her
not to send anymore, because we could love them all! Asres and Meheret became
plan B, and in a matter of weeks we learned that they very well may have been
God's plan A all long!
Asres (now Caleb) and Meheret (now Hannah) have been home for almost four months,
and they are doing great! We have truly been blessed by the opportunity to welcome
them into our hearts and home and would like to thank you so much for your part
in this miracle. You are to be commended for the amazing work that you do on
behalf of adoptive families and orphaned children around the world! Thank you,
thank you, thank you, and God bless!
Sincerely, The Morris Family
