Our Story
A Child Waits helped us to adopt our son Alexander who was 14 when we brought him home from Kazakhstan.
Alex was in good health and was at Child House #3. The orphanage was adequate, however, not very clean and the food and clothing were not good. There was very little supervision for the older children & Alex was not made to attend school if he didn't want to.

Our trip and accommodations were good, the city and food were
much better than expected. The people were what we expected, but the adoption
experience wasn't that great. We had some bad experiences with our agency and
the coordinators in Kazakhstan. Based on what we were told in the US to what
we received, the differences were huge.
We had many interesting interactions with people. We went to the church just
outside the orphanage and met many wonderful people. We met people that cared
very much about the orphans and got some funny looks from people that didn't
seem to understand.
We had Alex for the summer through Kidsave, so when we went back to get him,
it was different. He had grown up! He was taller, his voice was lower, and he
was becoming a young man already. It was sort of sad, because when you adopt
a teenager, you don't have much time left.
Alex was so happy to see us, it was a great reunion.
Alex is doing well; however, we have had our challenges. School is the hardest
thing for him. He wasn't taught the value of an education and it has been hard
to instill those values in him. Socially, Alex is a shining star. He meets and
greets everyone and people genuinely like him. He has bonded with us very well
and fits into our family like a glove.
Things are going much better now after the first year. It's quite difficult
for a teen to adapt in a new family, country, language, etc. We feel that it
is all very much worth it! God has put Alex in the right home and family and
we are so thrilled for the privilege to have him as our son!
The road is sometimes rough, but the verse in the Bible that says, "this
too shall pass" is so true. Some things seem too huge while you are going
through them, but when you come out the other side of them, they don't seem
too bad! The advice I could give any family adopting a teen is this; patience,
patience and more patience!!! :-)
Thanks again for all you did for us! Because of your help we were able to get
the great gift of our son, Alex Peludat!

Alex is on the left, Bob, Tara (our 29 yo daughter who is
a capt. in the Air Force!:-), Alexey (9yo), Vicki & Vlad (12yo). Tara came
home for the weekend to meet her new brothers!
We are now in the process of adopting the two brothers, pictured above, from Siberia, Russia right now. These boys, ages 12 & 9 were here this summer through Kidsave.
