Hannah Adopted From China

"It was a huge encouragement to us to receive this grant and we are just so grateful."

China 2013

Thank you so much for blessing our family with a grant to help us with Hannah's adoption! It truly meant so much to us.  We wanted to write and share a little about how things are going with Hannah now that we are home! Our trip to China was amazing and went better than we could have even hoped. Hannah came to us and cried for about an hour, and then suddenly the smiles and giggles started! We saw some grief from her at bedtime when we first arrived home, but other than that she has been a very happy little girl. She has bonded very well with both of us and she is affectionate and social. She fits into our family perfectly and it is hard to remember a time without her.

We have all had a very easy transition and we have been surprised by how well everything has been going. We enjoyed our time in China and loved exploring and learning about the culture. The trip home went well, although it seemed like the flight would never end! When we arrived home, the boys welcomed Hannah and seemed genuinely happy she was here. This surprised us most of all! We weren't sure how the boys would react (they are 3 and 4 years old) but they just love her. Nathan (our younger son) loves to play with her, feed her, bring her toys...and sometimes we can't get him to stop hugging her! Matthew is happy she's here and will bring her toys but doesn't sit and play with her as much. Still, we're so thankful that they both accepted Hannah into our family without much difficulty.

We have been home two weeks now and we are starting to settle into a routine. Hannah is a great sleeper (We've never been able to say that about any of our children before!), and we are working on building her strength and encouraging her to crawl and walk. She is delayed and will be receiving speech therapy as well as physical and possibly occupational therapy (
She has very low muscle tone). We spend a lot of time on the floor and already can see huge improvements in her strength.

Hannah is a happy, easy going little girl who loves attention, hugs and kisses. She smiles easily, loves to play, and eats well. She is just so precious and everyone who sees her comments on how beautiful she is. We feel so blessed to have three amazing children who we just love so much!

Thank you again for helping us to bring Hannah home. It was a huge encouragement to us to receive this grant and we are just so grateful.

Blessings,

Brad & Rachel H.
