A Child Waits Foundation

Family Foundation with a Singular Purpose
A Child Waits Foundation is a non-profit family foundation formed for the exclusive purpose of providing grants and low-interest loans to help families adopt children internationally.  Since our inception we have provided adoption grants and low interest loans to 1550 families leading to the adoption of  almost 1950 children.

Commitment to Families and Experienced Staff
In the past we awarded grants to more than half of eligible families that applied to us and we are dedicated to doing the same in 2017.  Our staff has the combined experience of more than 25 years with A Child Waits Foundation.

Personal Attention a Phone Call Away
We strongly believe that every family that contacts us should be able to receive prompt and timely answers to their questions and concerns and our staff are available to talk with and to respond to emails every week day.   Much of our time is spent giving each family the personal attention they need as they move through the steps of our application process and their adoption.

The Application Process is Clear and Concise

There are No Deadlines for Applications
We have intentionally formed the grant application process so that there are no firm deadlines.  You may apply at any time after you have a completed home study and have accepted the referral of your child or children.

We Keep You Updated about the Status of Your Application
After your application is complete we will contact you to acknowledge receipt of your application.   At that time, if you are traveling soon, we will send your application directly to the
board for a decision. If your travel time is still uncertain, you will be notified when your application is prepared to be reviewed by our Board of Directors.

Expedited Grant Processing for Families that Receive Early Travel Notice
If you
receive early travel notice or if you begin the grant application process close
to travel we are able to expedite your application.

Funds can be Provided Directly to the Family
If you are selected for a grant from A Child Waits Foundation we have the flexibility of sending the funds directly to the family or to the adoption agency.

Grants May be Used for Travel
If families are paid in full with their agency, we will send the funds directly to the family to be used for travel related expenses or fees that are due in-country.
Grants will be dispersed close to your confirmed travel date.

Mission Statement

Purpose

Our mission is to help prevent children
from  living  their   entire  childhood  in
international   orphanages  without  the
warmth   and   love   of  a  family.   Every
child  deserves  a  family and our goal is
to  unite  children   waiting  for  parents,
with   parents   who   are   committed   to
love, nurture and care for their children.

1. To increase the number of children who are adopted internationally by making available grants and low interest loans to families to help with some of the cost of adoption.

2. To decrease the stress that families feel during the hectic and  financially difficult time prior to traveling and bringing home their child.
3. To help change a child's future from one without hope to one with many possibilities.

History of A Child Waits

A Child Waits Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, formed in 1998 by Cynthia and Randolph Nelson.  In 1995 we adopted a son and daughter from Russia and in 2001 a daughter from Romania.  After we returned from Russia, friends, relatives and  strangers met our children and expressed  an interest in adopting but could not proceed because of the high cost of adoption.  This motivated us to form the foundation to help prospective parents bridge the cost of adoption.

Congratulations to a few of our 2017 grant recipients.
